‘Rahul Tripathi ne dikha diya wo India call-up kyun deserve karta tha’ – Fans react to a great run chase by Sunrisers Hyderabad against Punjab Kings

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. SRH opted to bowl first which proved to be the right decision as the bowlers took early wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent young and dashing opener Prabhsimran Singh back to the pavilion off the first ball.

Marco Jansen scalped two more in the powerplay to dismiss Matthew Short and Jitesh Sharma in his two-over spell in the first six overs. Sam Curran got a surprise promotion which proved to be right as he stitched an important partnership of 41 before getting removed by comeback spinner Mayank Markande.

After this wicket, the downfall of the Punjab Kings started as they got one wicket after another. Markande bowled a brilliant spell as he was able to claim three more wickets in his four-over spell. Dhawan was the only batter to have survived as he played with all the batters and his innings proved to be crucial as he took Punjab to an average total of 143/9 after 20 overs and remained not out on 99.

Rahul Tripathi seals SRH’s chase

Punjab Kings started well with the ball and took early scalps to poise the match. Arshdeep Singh was lethal at the start and Rahul Chahar complimented him well as he scalped Mayank Aggarwal. But after that Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi took the game to the Punjab bowlers and gave them no chance of a comeback.

At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday, Match 14 of the IPL 2023 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad upset Punjab Kings by an eight-wicket margin. Rahul Tripathi’s unbroken 74 runs from 48 balls helped SRH reach 145/2 in 17.1 overs while pursuing a goal of 144 runs. Aiden Markram, the captain, also scored an undefeated innings of 37 runs from 21 balls.

This was Hyderabad’s first win of the campaign on their third attempt and would be looking to add a few more wins in the coming games.
