Ravichandran Ashwin engages in heated chat with umpire at stumps on Day 1 of 2nd Test vs England

The captivating discussion took place between umpire Marais Erasmus and Team India’s star all-rounder, Ravichandran Ashwin, after the conclusion of the opening day of play in the second Test match between India and England in Visakhapatnam on Feb 2. Notably, the incident has caught attention on social media, with mixed reactions from the fans.

According to sources, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was stitching the stand with star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, was engaged in a conversation that was clearly heated after the stumps. Notably, the incident garnered a lot of attention on social media. Even though star opening batter Jaiswal and a few English cricket players made small talk, India’s star all-rounder Ashwin’s expression gave the impression that he was dissatisfied about something.

The context of Ravichandran Ashwin’s fiery talk, which took place before the cutoff, says that the expected 90 overs for the day had been completed earlier than anticipated. However, the umpire decided to extend play for the day until 4:30 p.m. IST. Meanwhile, India lost a wicket in the 91st over, leaving Ashwin to bat for the final two overs of the day.

I don’t know what the conversation was about: Rajat Patidar

Meanwhile, during the post-day media interaction, debutant Rajat Patidar was asked about Ravichandran Ashwin’s conversation with the umpire, but he expressed unawareness of the details, stating, “I don’t know what the conversation was about.”

Talking about the ongoing match here, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited England to field first in the game. Notably, after opting to bat first, the hosts posted 396 before getting an all-out in the first inning of the second Test match against England.

India’s star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered a double century as he went on to hammer 209 runs from 290 balls, featuring 19 boundaries and 7 sixes to help his side post the great total. However, following him, no other batter could contribute much, which allowed India to post a decent total on session 1 of Day 2 of the second Test game.
