‘You need to throw balls in good areas…..’ – Ravindra Jadeja opens up on his 5-wicket haul in 2nd innings of Rajkot Test match

India’s star cricketer, Ravindra Jadeja, has recently opened up about his tactical skills and pragmatic approach after their great victory over England in the third Test match. Notably, Team India posted 445 and 430 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, the visiting sides were bundled out for 319 and 122 runs, respectively, and handed 423 runs of victory to the hosts to take up the lead of 2-1 after the third Test match.

However, Ravindra Jadeja, who hammered the magnificent century in the first inning as he went on to score 112 runs from 225 balls, featuring nine boundaries and two sixes, opened up about his partnership with India’s skipper Rohit Sharma to take the innings deep after getting reduced to 33/3 at the start of the game. The left-handed batter reveals the same reason for opting to bat first after Rohit Sharma won the toss against Ben Stokes.

“I was just looking to build partnerships with Rohit, we were in a difficult situation, look to back my strengths, play my shots, not try and be more conscious. Watch the ball and play the ball. I know about this wicket, if we bat first, it is always good to bat on, in the second half it starts spinning, when Rohit won the toss, we were thinking: this is all that we wanted, bat first, bowl second,” Ravindra Jadeja asserted in the post-match presentation.

You need to throw balls in good areas, you have to earn your wickets: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, who took the five-wicket haul in the second innings and played a great role in bundling out England to a narrow score, opens up his plans. Moreover, the great spinner reveals that it wasn’t easy to pick up the wickets, but he tried to bowl in the good areas to pick up the wickets against England.

“On this wicket, you won’t get easy wickets, you have to work hard for it. You need to throw balls in good areas, you have to earn your wickets,” he added further.
