However, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was once again spotted giving some fiery answers in the press conference ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka. The 36-year-old skipper was asked about how a few former cricketers suggested that one should be selfish for the team over personal milestones, to which he gave a detailed answer.

“Your selfless approach is being appreciated in this World Cup, no milestones, you are just looking to hit well. You also have the highest runs in power play. Kuch suggestions aise aaye hai former cricketers se ki thoda selfish ho jayenge team ke liye to accha rahega,” Rohit Sharma was asked.

The Mumbai Indians captain affirms that he always wanted to give a great start to his team as there is no pressure of low wickets at that moment, which pushes him to go beyond his limit as well as helping the team score maximum runs in the powerplay. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batsman feels that one has to be fearless and can play as they want in the game.

“When I open, the scoreboard starts from zero. So as a batsman, I have to think, I have to set the tone for the game. So, I have that advantage or you can call it a benefit that I am starting the batting and there is no pressure of wickets because everything is 0-0, so when you have to start like that, you can be fearless and you can play the way you want to play but then last game we were put under pressure a little bit in the power play,” Rohit Sharma said.
