‘This man just wake up & spit facts’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma comes up with hilarious take on Shoaib Bashir’s delay in arrival
India’s skipper Rohit Sharma has recently opened up about England star cricketer Shoaib Bashir missing the first Test match against India commencing on January 25 owing to a delay in his visa. However, the 36-year-old cricketer accepted that he does not have visa control in his hand and he can’t do much about the same.
The stylish right-handed batter accepted that he felt bad for him as the 20-year-old cricketer was coming to India for the first time and got his visa delayed. In addition, the top-order batter hopes that the English cricketer gets a visa as soon as possible, and he enjoys his visiting country, India, along with playing the Test series.
“I feel for him. He’s coming here with the England setup for the first time. It’s not easy for anyone. If it were one of our guys coming to England, and the visa was denied (it would be the same). Unfortunately, I don’t sit in the visa office to give more details on that. But I hope he can make it here quickly, enjoy our country and play some cricket as well,” Rohit Sharma said in the pre-match conference.
Shoaib Bashir is not the first cricketer to go through this: Ben Stokes
Meanwhile, English captain Ben Stokes has accepted that such a situation is frustrating as his teammate is not able to travel to India after his delay in visa. The 32-year-old cricketer slammed the management and said that the visa is not ready, despite announcing the squad in mid-December. Moreover, the left-handed batter revealed that he has seen players go into the same situation a lot of times.
“As captain, I find it particularly frustrating. We announced the squad in mid-December, and now Bash finds himself without a visa to get here. He’s not the first cricketer to go through this. I have played with a lot of people who have had the same issues. I find it frustrating that we have picked a player, and he’s not with us because of visa issues,” Ben Stokes said ahead of the game.
