‘Keep rocking GOATs’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma heaps praise on Virat Kohli after India’s win in ODI World Cup semi-final clash vs. New Zealand

Team India thrashed New Zealand in the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023, making them enter the final of the marquee event. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are unbeaten in the tournament, with ten out of the ten wins in the ongoing tournament. After India’s win, captain Rohit Sharma has opened up about the tactics and pragmatic skills they used to win this game.

The 36-year-old skipper feels one can’t relax in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium despite posting a huge total on the board. In addition, the stylish top-order batter was feeling nervous when Kane Williamson and Daryll Mitchell stitched the great stand during the middle orders.

“I have played a lot of cricket here, any score on this ground, you cannot relax. Got to get the job done quickly and stay at it. We knew there would be pressure on us. We were very calm, even though we were a bit sloppy on the field. These things are bound to happen (the partnership between Mitchell and Kane) but glad we could get the job done,” Rohit Sharma said in the post-match presentation.

Virat Kohli did what he does, also got to his landmark century as well: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma also heaps praise on chase master Virat Kohli, who surpasses Sachin Tendulkar’s historic record after smashing his 50th ODI ton. Moreover, the opening batter was impressed with the RCB stalwart’s great innings, which not only helped him make his century but also boosted their middle order.

“Kohli did what he does, also got to his landmark century as well. England game we got 230 on the board, way bowlers bowled with the new ball was amazing. Today obviously being the semifinal, would not say there was no pressure, whenever you play there is pressure. Semifinal adds a bit extra, we wanted to not think too much about it, just do what we’ve been doing like in the first nine games. Things came off for us nicely in the second half,” he added further.
