‘The bowlers showed a lot of character….’ – Rohit Sharma opens up after India’s great win over England in Rajkot Test

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma has recently opened up about his emotions after the hosts registered their victory over England in the third Test match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. Notably, the Men in Blue are 2-1 in the ongoing five matches of the Test series, as they won the game by 434 runs against England on Day 4 of the Rajkot Test.

However, Rohit seemed to hail the team after the side got the great win. The 36-year-old skipper accepted that England put them under pressure on Day 2 of the third Test match. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter heaps praise on his side for their great comeback in the bowling on Day 3 of the Test game.

“When you are playing Test cricket, it is not played over 2-3 days. We do understand the importance of playing over 5 days. They played well and put us under pressure. We have got class in our bowling, the message was to stay calm and I’m really proud of how we came back the next day. When those things happen, it’s a delight,” Rohit Sharma said after the win.

We know how important in India it is to win the toss: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma also reveals the reason why Ravindra Jadeja was sent to No. 5 alongside debutant Sarfaraz Khan. Moreover, the opening batter also talks about the importance of winning the toss. Furthermore, the top-order batter lauded the Team India bowlers after the superb victory over the Ben Stokes-led England side.

“[on Jadeja at 5] For this game, we thought he has got so much experience and has got a lot of runs as well, we wanted that left-right combo, Sarfaraz with the quality he has got, we wanted him to have time. We saw what he can do with the bat. We know how important in India it is to win the toss, the way we came back and bowled after that onslaught. The bowlers showed a lot of character, not to forget we did not have our most experienced bowler as well,” he added further.
