Sachin Tendulkar remembers his childhood coach on his death anniversary

The renowned cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, wrote a heartwarming tribute to his childhood coach Ramakant Achrekar on his death anniversary. At the age of 87, Achrekar passed away in 2019 at his Mumbai home.

Tendulkar’s success over the years was significantly influenced by Achrekar, who was born in 1932. At Shivaji Park in Mumbai’s Dadar district, he served as a mentor to a number of young players, and his most well-known student, Tendulkar, who went on to become one of the greatest cricket players in the sport’s history.

On social media, Tendulkar posted a picture of himself and Achrekar with the caption

“He taught me technique, discipline, and most importantly, to respect the game. I think of him every day. Today, on his death anniversary, I salute the Dronacharya of my life. Without him, I wouldn’t have been the same cricketer.”

Sachin Tendulkar – A cricketer full of laurels

Achrekar, one of the most well-known figures in the coaching world, was given the Dronacharya award in 1990, and the Padma Shri honor in 2010. His production of excellent cricketers like Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli proved to be a blessing for the Indian squad.
