‘Getting a hundred, his form just goes down’ – Former India cricketer makes audacious claim on KL Rahul’s form in Test cricket

Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar opened up about India’s star cricketer KL Rahul’s form in Test cricket. Notably, the wicketkeeper batter had piled up a magnificent century in the first innings of the first Test game in Centurion. However, he was dismissed for just 4 runs in the second inning. In addition, the star batter was able to make eight runs in the first inning of the second Test game in Cape Town, and his wicket marked the beginning of the batting collapse.

The well-renowned cricket commentator affirms that KL Rahul has great experience in Test cricket and calls him a very unique batter. In addition, the former batting legend feels the 31-year-old cricketer lacks consistency in Test cricket as he failed to show his form after a century in Centurion.

“We are talking about KL Rahul, who has Test match experience of over 40 Test matches. It’s a very unique career that he has. A very unique batter as well. No doubt about the ability – we saw in the first innings [in Centurion]. But just look at the last three hundred that he got at the Test level – good hundreds and then there is a lull,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on ESPNCricinfo.

Sanjay Manjrekar also spoke about KL Rahul’s average in Test cricket. Moreover, the 58-year-old cricketer reveals that the LSG skipper’s form suddenly goes down after his century in the game. The legendary cricketer also spoke about Shreyas Iyer’s weakness in Test cricket.

“The next five innings after the last three hundreds, average was 19, 21 and 24. This is a very unique case where, after getting a hundred, his form just goes down. It’s happened three or four times in his career. Hope this time it’s slightly different. Of the three players that we see occupying positions 1,3 and 5. I think Shreyas Iyer needs to do the most work on his defence,” he added further.
