‘Sara hindustan gill ko sara se milana chahata hai’ – Twitter in splits as Indore crowd teases Shubman Gill with ‘Sara-Sara’ chants

The third and final ODI between India and New Zealand began with the hosts already having taken the series. India, who had won the toss, decided to bat first on the Holkar Stadium’s relatively tiny boundary. The partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill got off to a flurry of strikes and kept at a quick pace.

Nine fours and six sixes helped the Men in Blue skipper to his 30th century in 84 balls. Gill reached his century in the same over, he followed closely behind Rohit. With the help of 13 fours and 5 sixes, the youngster scored 112 runs in 78 balls.

In the second innings, Gill was standing at the fence, and in between the overs the crowd was seen chanting in the stands “Humari bhabhi kaisi ho, Sara bhabhi jaisi ho”. This incident was fully enjoyed by the former India skipper Virat Kohli who was fielding in front of the 23-year-old.

Hardik Pandya, who has been playing consistently well recently, managed the lower-order batting with his 54 off 38 as Kohli struggled to score much (36). India scored 385/9 in the first innings.

In reply, the Blackcaps got off to a poor start as Finn Allen threw his wicket on the second ball of the innings. However, Devon Conway kept the castle from one end and finished with a fine century (138 off 100) thanks to 12 fours and 8 sixes.

Additionally, Henry Nicholls made a useful 42 off of 40. The other batters, however, were unable to stop India’s challenge, and as a result, New Zealand crumbled at 295 and lost the game by a score of 90 runs.

As he grabbed three essential wickets of Glenn Phillips, Tom Latham, and Daryl Mitchell, Shardul Thakur was named Player of the Match. In his six overs, he conceded 45 runs. Gill slammed 360 runs in the three-match ODI series because of which he was named Player of the Series.
