‘He thoroughly deserved to win the World Cup’ – Pakistan’s legendary pacer heaps praise on Rohit Sharma after ODI World Cup 2023 final loss vs Australia

Rohit Sharma and Co. lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. completely destroyed the hosts in the final game. However, despite the loss, the Men in Blue have been praised by a plethora of former cricketers and cricket pundits for their magnificent performances in the league stage as well as the semi-final game.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same, former Pakistan’s cricketer Shoaib Akhtar heaped praise on Team India and lauded Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. The cricket analyst feels the 36-year-old skipper played really well and led the team superbly in the marquee event. Moreover, the legendary cricketer feels India’s skipper Rohit Sharma missed the trick on the last day, which makes him lose the ODI World Cup 2023 final.

The Rawalpindi-born cricketer affirms that Rohit Sharma always thinks about winning games for Team India over his personal milestones. In addition, the great cricketer also talks about the intent with which Rohit Sharma played the tournament.

Rohit Sharma just missed the trick on the last day: Shoaib Akhtar

“He (Rohit Sharma) played really well and led the team superbly. He just missed the trick on the last day. Otherwise, he thoroughly deserved to win the World Cup. I’m still thinking why he couldn’t win the title. He had the right intent throughout the tournament. He didn’t think about personal milestones. Instead, he was focused on winning the World Cup for India. I genuinely feel for him,” Shoaib Akhtar said on Zee News.

Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar has slammed the Indian fans who are consistently targeting Indian players and their families after the ODI World Cup 2023 loss in the final.

“Players dream about winning the World Cup in front of their wives and kids. And damn those people who are people who are trolling and abusing the Indian players’ families. How low can they stoop? They were there to support them and you are targeting them,” he added further.
