Shocker for India as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja get ruled out of 2nd Test match; replacements announced

Indian Cricket Team receives a huge blow ahead of the 2nd Test match against England as two main players, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are ruled out of the team due to injury. Jadeja was seen struggling in the 1st match while batting and thus, it was confirmed that he was suffering from a hamstring injury. In addition, Rahul is also out of the team due to right quadriceps pain.

Thus, the selection committee has included three players who might replace them in the team: Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar. Sarfaraz finally gets his maiden call-up from the upcoming Test match. The second test is set to start on February 2, in Visakhapatnam. Now, India is missing three big names, Rahul, Jadeja and Virat Kohli.

After losing the first Test, India will be looking forward to making a comeback in the 2nd Test. However, with the absence of the best batters and the bowler, it will be a challenging match for India in terms of performance as well as team selection. Considering Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer’s form, captain Rohit Sharma will have to think about ways to find the correct team combination for the upcoming match.

Who is Sourabh Kumar?

Sourabh Kumar is the left-arm spinner for Uttar Pradesh who has been a part of the Indian team earlier. Moreover, he has 290 first-class wickets at 24.41. Previously, he was picked up for the tour against Bangladesh in 2022. However, he didn’t get a chance to represent the country. While playing for the India A team against the England Lions, he picked up a second-inning five-wicket haul.

In addition to Sourabh, Sarfaraz Khan was finally selected for the Indian squad after being ignored multiple times. Sarfaraz has scored a 160-ball 161 runs in the match against England Lions. His first-class records are amazing with averages of 69.85, along with 14 centuries in 45 games. It is still not confirmed whether they will be included in the second team, but if they do, they will have to prove their worth.
