Team India won their last and final game of the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands by 160 runs on November 12 at M.Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore. Notably, the hosts posted a massive total of 410/4 in the given 50 overs, owing to magnificent centuries from India’s middle-order batsmen, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.

Notably, the hosts had a great start to the game, following the half centuries of India’s skipper Rohit Sharma, opening batsman Shubman Gill, and RCB stalwart Virat Kohli. However, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul changed the momentum of the game and went in to score a wonderful hundred to post challenging total against visitors .

I feel the recent scores helped me in this innings: Shreyas Iyer

Meanwhile, during the second inning of the game, some strange moments were seen in the play. Shreyas Iyer dropped the catch near the boundary wall, for which the fans had started teasing and calling him name. Notably, he looked back at the crowd and was totally unhappy with their behavior. The clip has been widely shared on social media, and the fans are disappointed to see such behaviour from him.

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer received the Player of the Match award, and he has opened up about the tactics and approach he used to get the milestone. “I wanted to come not out this time. I took pills for the cramps. Feel the recent scores helped me in this innings. The wicket was tacky and two-paced, I just wanted to capitalize on the start and I was able to do that. I have worked a lot on that (straight) shot, I was just trying to hit it straight. It’s about keeping the head straight and about the follow-through of the bat once I am trying to play the slog shot,” Shreyas Iyer said after the win.
