‘Shubman back to hammer Pak’ – Fans react as Shubman Gill is set to travel to Ahmedabad today for ODI World Cup 2023

Team India has locked horns against Afghanistan on October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi for their second clash of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the Men in Blue have already won their opening game against Australia by six wickets on October 8, whereas they will be taking on the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. However, India’s star batter, Shubman Gill, had missed both games owing to his illness and high dengue fever.

According to sources, India’s top-order batter, Shubman Gill, will play the match against the Men in Green on October 14 in Ahmedabad. Notably, sources claim that the 24-year-old batsman will reach Ahmedabad on October 11. The sources further claimed that the young batter will continue his recovery as well as rest in Ahmedabad, and he is currently under the medical team of the Indian Cricket Board.

“Gill will be travelling to Ahmedabad from Chennai today in a commercial flight. He will continue with recovery and rest there, under the watch of BCCI medical team,” a source close to developments tells CricketNext.

Hopefully Shubman Gill will be back in the mix pretty soon: Coach

Meanwhile, India’s batting coach, Vikram Rathour, has also provided fresh updates on his recovery. The batting coach confirmed that the great cricketer was admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure and is recovering well. Moreover, Vikram Rathour reveals that the Gujarat Titans opener is looking good and is set to come back in Blue Jersey.

“He is recovering well. Gill was hospitalized, yes, but that was more as a precaution. He is back in the hotel; he is recovering well. So, being monitored by the medical team and whatever update we get, we hope he will recover pretty soon. He is looking good actually. Hopefully Gill will be back in the mix pretty soon,” he added further.
