Shubman Gill likely to miss India’s ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Pakistan

Team India is all set to lock horns against Afghanistan on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Notably, the Men in Blue had a stellar start to the ODI World Cup 2023 following their magnificent win in their opening game against Australia. However, India’s star cricketer, Shubman Gill, is set to miss the clash against Pakistan on October 14 owing to his illness.

According to reports, India’s opening batsman, Shubman Gill, was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning. Notably, the great cricketer got high dengue fever ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against Australia, which let him miss the opening game. The sources confirmed that he has been discharged now and under the medical team.

“Shubman Gill’s platelet dropped and he was admitted to a hospital in Chennai as a precautionary measure. BCCI’s medical team is also monitoring him,” sources told India Today.

Shubman Gill will be under the supervision of the medical team: Reports

Meanwhile, the sources earlier stated that India’s top-order batsman will miss the clash against Afghanistan in their second ODI World Cup 2023 game. Notably, the current status of his health seems too serious, which can make him miss the high-octane clash against Babar Azam-led Pakistan on October 14. Notably, this is the biggest setback for the Indian cricket team, as Shubman Gill has some historic records at the Ahemdabad Ground, and he broke several records during the IPL 2023.

“Team India batter Shubman Gill will not be travelling with the team to Delhi on 9th October 2023. The opening batter who missed the team’s first fixture in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia in Chennai is set to miss the team’s next fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi on the 11th of October. He will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team,” read the statement from the Indian  Cricket Board.
