WATCH: Shubman Gill questions Rohit Sharma about India’s ‘unwanted record’ against New Zealand ahead of ODI World Cup 2023 clash

Rohit Sharma and Co. are all set to take on New Zealand on October 22 in Dharamshala for their fifth game of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the Men in Blue and Black Caps are currently undefeated in the ongoing marquee event, where one will be getting a loss and another a straight fifth win in their next game. New Zealand and Team India currently place themselves at the number 1 and number 2 spots in the points table, respectively.

However, Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma were spotted with their funny and hilarious talks ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023 clash against New Zealand. India’s opening batsman, Shubman Gill, tried to pull the leg of Rohit Sharma while saying Team India has never won against New Zealand since 2003 in a major tournament. However, the 36-year-old skipper comes up with some funny responses.

Gill: Someone asked me in the press conference that we haven’t beaten New Zealand in a major tournament since 2003…

Rohit: That’s true. But we are playing good cricket and that’s all we can do from our end.

Gill: So, will we definitely end the streak on Sunday?

Rohit: See we don’t play the kind of cricket where we guarantee anything. When we reach the ground, we’ll have to do what we are doing as a team. We can’t think too far ahead. Yes, we’ve not had the result in the past…

Shardul Thakur is a big match player: Rohit Sharma

Meanwhile, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma revealed that their plan was to send ace pacer Shardul Thakur in place of KL Rahul in the batting order in the clash against Bangladesh in Pune.

“I told Shardul to get ready on the ball that Shreyas Iyer got out. I told him ‘Shardul, you will be in next.’ But Shreyas got out on that delivery and by the time Shardul came down getting ready, Rahul had gone in to bat.”

Shubman Gill said that fans were waiting to see Shardul bat, to which Rohit had a hilarious response.

“They will get the chance. He is a big match player,” said Rohit Sharma.
