‘I can’t say this is the best-ever pace…….’ – Sourav Ganguly makes explosive claim about Team India’s pace attack ahead of semis

Team India is all set to lock horns against the Netherlands for their last and final game of the ODI World Cup 2023, slated to take place on November 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore. Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently unbeaten in the tournament and are expected to finish with nine out of nine wins in the event. Notably, regardless of the loss or win, the hosts will end up in the top spot and will be playing the first semi-final game either from Pakistan or New Zealand.

Meanwhile, the pace attack of Team India has been delivering wonderful and magnificent performances and restricting opponents to a very low score. However, former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly does not feel that this is India’s best pace attack. The well-renowed cricket commentator feels the 2003 ODI World Cup pace attack was the best owing to their magnificent bowling spells.

“I can’t say this is the best-ever Indian pace attack to date. In the 2003 World Cup, (Ashish) Nehra, Zaheer (Khan), and (Javagal) Srinath also bowled brilliantly,” Sourav Ganguly said on Sports Tak.

There’s pressure from both ends as it is always about bowing in pairs: Sourav Ganguly

However, batting legend Sourav Ganguly is thrilled to witness the performances by Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah that have guided the team to win the games in ODI World Cup 2023. Moreover, the former Indian Cricket Board President has lauded star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s skills, which make him a very lethal bowler in powerplays and in death overs. The legendary cricketer has expressed his happiness about Mohammed Shami’s place in India’s starting line-up and the impact he has made.

“But yeah, it’s exciting to see Bumrah, Shami and Siraj bowl. It’s a big difference when you have Bumrah. There’s pressure from both ends as it is always about bowing in pairs. Bumrah makes a massive impact on the other two as well. Yes, Shami should have played in the XI a lot earlier. Look at the impact he has made,” he added further.
