Star Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne picks next batting superstar; ignores Shubmam Gill
Shubman Gill has undoubtedly been in the greatest form of his life over the past few months, especially in white-ball cricket. He is currently one of the best batters in the entire world of cricket. A spot in the Test lineup for India’s third game against Australia was also given to the batter in recognition of his white-ball performance.
Many people still consider Gill to be the “future of Indian cricket,” despite the fact that he didn’t contribute much with the bat. When Marnus Labuschagne, an Australian batter, was questioned about the “next batting superstar,” he avoided Gill.
During a ‘You have to answer’ Q&A session, the world’s number one batter was asked to choose either one of them, from Brook and Gill. On which Marnus Labuschagne asserted that “Oh, Jesus! Harry Brook. I really like the way he bats. It can be an unpopular answer, but…”
Harry Brook to play for Hyderabad in Indian T20 League 2023
Brook has drawn attention with his performances for the England national team, much like Gill has. The Englishman has been excelling in red-ball cricket, in comparison to Shubman. Recently, Brook was successful with the ball and scored a total of 329 runs in the four innings of the two Test matches against New Zealand.
Brook was signed by the Indian T20 League team Hyderabad for an outrageous price of INR 13.25 crore in the auction after they saw his potential. Some of the greatest names in Indian cricket have backed Gill to lead the team going forward. Many people believe that Gill would succeed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the Indian team’s batter when they are no longer part of the squad.
The 23-year-old has recently scored his maiden century in Tests against the Bangla Tigers. He has scored centuries in both the ODI and T20I format at home series as well. Seeing his recent form, fans believed that he would be replacing the 30-year-old, but that didn’t happen as the Indian management continued to back the vice-captain of the team.
