‘Well deserved Surya Dada’ – Fans react as Suryakumar Yadav likely to captain India in five-match T20I series against Australia
Team India is all set to lock horns against Australia for the five matches of the T20I series slated to commence on November 23 after the ODI World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, both teams will be playing their final game against each other on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Notably, Rohit Sharma is unbeaten in the tournament and places themselves in the top spot in the points table of the league stage before thrashing New Zealand in their semi-final clash. On the other hand, five-time world champions have placed themselves in the third spot with seven wins and two losses before beating South Africa in the semi-finals.
However, according to reports, India’s star cricketer Suryakumar Yadav is likely to lead his national side in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. The middle-order batter has failed to make an impact in the ongoing tournament and continues with his poor form for 50 overs of the game.
Few IPL stars are expected to make their comeback in the upcoming T20I series against Australia
Earlier, some reports claimed that CSK star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad may lead the side, but recent reports suggest that the Mumbai Indian star will be the captain. Meanwhile, the rest of the cricketers, including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami, will be rested for their upcoming series and will be directly playing against the South Africa series scheduled to take place from December 10 to January 7.
However, a few IPL stars are expected to make their comeback in the upcoming T20I series against Australia. The absence of big guns will mean that youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma and Arshdeep Singh are likely to get a call-up for the T20I series.
