India vs Australia final to be played on used pitch after semifinal controversy? Check out recent updates here
Team India is all set to lock horns against five-time world champions Australia on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad for the final clash of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently unbeaten in the tournament and thrashed strong Kiwis in their semi-final clash. However, Pat Cummins and Co. also thrashed South Africa in their last clash to reach the finals.
However, the PTI news agency has provided the latest updates on the pitch of the showdown. The news agency said that two senior officials of the Indian Cricket Board and a former India seamer were in Ahmedabad and were closely monitoring the pitch preparations at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
However, according to reports, the Indian Cricket Board wanted to make the slow batting pitch with the use of roller coasters, but batters won’t be able to hit that consistently in the game. Notably, in this situation, the team batting first will edge over the other team.
If heavy roller is being used on a black soil strip then the idea is to create a slow batting track: Reports
Meanwhile, earlier, there were reports that the Indian Cricket Board wanted to use the used pitch over the fresh one ahead of the Team India vs. New Zealand semi-final clash. However, Indian Cricket Board officials denied all the accusations made against them for the pitch controversy.
“On Friday, the two senior BCCI’s chief of ground staff Ashish Bhowmick and his second in command Taposh Chatterjee, along with former India seamer and BCCI’s GM (Domestic Cricket) Abbey Kuruvilla, closely monitored the pitch preparations for the mega final on Sunday,” PTI reported on Friday.
“If heavy roller is being used on a black soil strip then the idea is to create a slow batting track where you can get a big score but you possibly can’t consistently hit through the line. 315 could be a defendable score as batting second will be difficult,” a state association curator was quoted as saying by PTI.
