Indian Cricket Board set to announce Team India squad for South Africa tour, Rohit-Virat doubtful

Team India recently lost the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the India team is currently playing the five matches of the T20I series against Australia, which started on November 23. Notably, it is seen that India team are at 2-1 with the three matches played so far, and they will be looking to seal the series in the upcoming clash.

However, following the Australia series, the Men in Blue will be travelling to South Africa for the multi-format series slated to take place on December 10. According to reports, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is set to announce the full squad for the T20Is, ODIs, and Test series against South Africa.

Meanwhile, there are no current reports about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma playing the white-ball format against South Africa. However, both the batting legends are set to play the red ball format series against South Africa, and the selection committee is set to announce the full-strength squad for the South Africa series, which will feature big names like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Team India squad will be picked in the weekend: Reports

“The squad will be picked in the weekend of Monday. There are a lot of things to discuss. But before Tests, we play T20s and ODIs, so squad will be around that,” a senior Indian Cricket Board official said.

Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha also opens up about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future after the ODI World Cup 2023.

“I’m very sure they’ll be talking to the management. And the committee will always take their opinion, what is the future plans, what they’re thinking. Because every player, if you look at every board, what they do is they believe in one cycle. The cycle is from World Cup to World Cup. They prepare the team accordingly. With the ODI World Cup cycle over, the new T20 World Cup cycle will come up. So we’ll see what the management decides and what they talk to Rohit and Virat and what they come up with as well,” Former Pragyan Ojha, IPL Governing council member and India spinner, told Hindustan Times.
