‘To hell with them…’ – Ravi Shastri slams hard on Rohit Sharma vs Virat Kohli debate

Former India head coach, Ravi Shastri is the one person who has endlessly addressed the Rohit Sharma vs Virat Kohli debate numerous times. During his coaching days, it was rumoured that Rohit and Kohli are not making eye-to-eye contact and also that they were not on the same page.

Reports gave birth to the Twitter rivalry between the fans of Rohit and Kohli, so much so that a Kohli fan murdered a Rohit fan in Tamil Nadu during a discussion between the two heated up over who the better batter is.

That will be one of his finest T20 innings: Ravi Shastri

With the growing development of social media, Rohit Vs Kohli is one of those topics which will not end easily. But Shastri termed it as a ‘timepass’. He also said this all has been done by the fans of both of them who are also known as ‘Viratians’ and ‘Rohitians’.

“To hell with them. All of this is merely time pass for you guys. I don’t have the time for this. Everything is fine. There’s is good tuning between them. Everything is first-class. There was a 100-run partnership in between but you guys are stretching it. Keep on doing it. All of this is a very trivial matter,” Shastri told veteran journalist Vimal Kumar in an interview on his YouTube channel.

The former Indian cricketer also shared his views on Kohli. The former Indian skipper was not in the form in the first half of this year but after the break, he made a strong comeback in Asia Cup and then in the 20-20 World Cup. In the Asia Cup, he scored his maiden century against Afghanistan, and in the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup he scored 296 runs with four half-centuries.

“I think in his career, that will be one of his finest T20 innings. No doubt about it, because the stage was that big. It was against Pakistan, the match was stuck for India, so to score runs there under pressure is a big thing. I don’t need to say anything. The world has seen it, they will judge it and he will put it as one of his best,” added Shastri.
