‘Truly missing gabbar and hitman’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma opens up about his close friendship with Shikhar Dhawan
Team India has been gearing up to win the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which will commence on October 5. Notably, the Men in Blue last won the World Cup back in 2011 when they defeated Sri Lanka on their home soil to lift the trophy after 1983. However, this time also, Rohit Sharma and Co. are heading as the favourites to win the marquee event owing to their stellar displays in the Asia Cup 2023 as well as the ODI Series against Australia.
Notably, team India has marked the comeback of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in the ODI World Cup, whereas they have two in-form openers, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, alongside side skipper Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, in a recent interview, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about his favourite batting partner, whom he named Shikar Dhawan. The 36-year-old skipper says that they are both very close friends on the field as well as off the field.
“Shikhar Dhawan and I had a very strong friendship on and off the field. We have played so many years together and it’s a partnership that I enjoyed being a part of. He has a very infectious energy and it’s just a lot of fun to be around him, and the records that we set as an opening pair for India,” Rohit Sharma said.

Moreover, the right-handed batter was also asked about his favourite ground, to which he came up with the name Eden Garden, based in Kolkata. Notably, the top-order batter has revealed the reason why Eden Garden is so special to him.
“I made my India debut in Eden Gardens (in Test cricket) and scored 177 against West Indies and then the highest ODI score of 264 and my IPL 100 was also there. I also have a Ranji trophy 200 there. Beyond the scores, my first trophy as IPL captain came there and another title as well. I love the stadium,” he added further.
