Two star Bangalore franchise players set to miss Indian T20 League 2023 fixture against Mumbai
The Indian T20 League 2023 is around the corner as it is set to kick off on March 31 after the completion of the Women’s T20 League. The opening match of the cash-rich league will be played between the Chennai franchise and the defending champions Gujarat at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium.
Faf du Plessis-led Bangalore franchise will their opening game against the most successful franchise of the league, the Mumbai side led by Men in Blue skipper Rohit Sharma on April 2 at M. Chinnaswammy Stadium. Ahead of their opener, the Bangalore side has received a major setback as the two star Australians, Josh Hazelwood, and Glenn Maxwell are unlikely to participate in the match.
Wanindu Hasaranga likely to miss first two matches for Bangalore in Indian T20 League 2023
Hazelwood missed the recently concluded tour of India, in which Australia played four Test matches and three ODIs. He was ruled out in the middle of the tour as he was not able to recover from an Achilles injury. He will discuss with Cricket Australia’s medical team before joining the Bangalore franchise in India. On the other hand, Maxwell was last seen in the recently concluded ODI series against Men in Blue, which the visitors went on to win 2-1.
Although, he played the series, but the 34-year-old is yet to fully recover from his leg fracture which he sustained after the completion of the 20-20 World Cup last year because of which he imissed the recent edition of Big Bash League. While the rest of the team gets ready for their inaugural game against the five-time ITL champions, he is strengthening and training at the gym.
The star Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is also set to miss first two matches for the side because of national team commitments. The spinner will join the squad after the completion of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand, after April 8.
