‘Usko kya hi fark padega ek point se’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah reprimanded for breaching Code of Conduct after collision with Ollie Pope in 1st Test vs England

India’s star cricketer Jasprit Bumrah has been handed a reprimand for a level 1 breach of the Apex Cricket Council code of conduct on Day four of the first Test match against England at the iconic Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Notably, this has been Jasprit Bumrah’s first demerit point in the past 12 months.

The Apex Cricket Council has released the official statement for the act, which reveals that the 30-year-old cricketer had improper physical contact with England’s batter, Ollie Pope, in the game. Notably, the great batter went on to hammer in 196 runs in the second inning, which helped put them in a commanding position against India.

“The pacer was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match’,” the Apex Cricket Council stated.

Jasprit Bumrah deliberately came in the way of Ollie Pope when he was running to take the runs: Report

The statement further reads that the incident occurred during the 81st over of England’s batting when the right-arm pacer deliberately came in the way of Ollie Pope when he was running to take the runs during the game. In addition, this act was found to be unethical and unprofessional.

“The incident occurred in the 81st over of England’s second innings, when Bumrah, after completing his follow-through, deliberately stepped in Ollie Pope’s way as the batter went for a run, leading to inappropriate physical contact,” the statement added further.

Meanwhile, Team India lost the first Test match by 28 runs despite having a good lead of 190 runs in the first inning. However, Rohit Sharma and Co. could not continue the great momentum in the second innings and lost the match, which made them lose the opening game of the Test. The Men in Blue will be looking to win the second Test match to level up the series by 1-1.
