‘There may be bad game around the corner in semi-final’ – Viv Richards warns Team India ahead of knockouts in ODI World Cup 2023 clash vs New Zealand

The Men in Blue will be taking on the Netherlands in their final league stage game of the ODI World Cup 2023 before facing in-form New Zealand in their first semi-final games. Speaking about Team India’s campaign, they thrashed Australia in their opening game, despite their poor star. Following them, they easily beat Afghanistan before thrashing arch-rivals Pakistan. In addition, they beat Bangladesh and recorded a close victory over New Zealand. Moreover, the hosts also beat England despite the low target on the board. They later humiliated Sri Lanka before defeating South Africa in their last clash.

Following their back-to-back victories, a plethora of cricket pundits and former cricketers have praised them. However, West Indies legend Viv Richards also lauded the hosts for being undefeated in the tournament. The former batting legend has talked about Team India’s mindset that is helping them win the games. Moreover, the 71-year-old cricketer feels Rohit Sharma and Co. have a great approach to playing the games.

“In terms of this year’s competition, India have a mindset that they can go all the way playing like this. That absolutely should be their mindset and would be mine if I was in that dressing room – let’s go out with all guns blazing. That approach has worked so far and if that changes, things may go astray,” Viv Richards.

I believe Team India can go all the way unbeaten, which is really something to strive for: Viv Richards

The legendary cricketer feels they can go unbeaten in the tournament and win the marquee event. Meanwhile, the former right-handed batsman has warned them they might have a bad day in the semi-final games like the previous campaign.

“I believe they can go all the way unbeaten, which is really something to strive for. There may be some fears of ‘we have played so well so far, there may be a bad game around the corner in the semi-final’. They have to try and nullify those and banish any negative thoughts,” he added further.
