‘Waapsi hogi aur shaandar hogi’ – Fans overjoyed as Rishabh Pant posts his pictures on social media after his accident

Andhra Pradesh cricketer KS Bharat recently replaced India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant in the ongoing Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is currently underway in the Vidharbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

Last year, the Delhi franchise skipper was the standout performer in Test cricket as Islam had 680 runs at an average of 61.81, with two centuries against England and South Africa. Pant scored his last 100 last year when he scored unbeaten 125 runs against England at Old Trafford in Manchester.

The 25-year-old’s spot in the T20I team remains doubtful. Everyone was hoping the southpaw will lead the Delhi franchise in the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League but it’s unlikely that he would not be able to recover. Pant, meanwhile, took to Twitter  and posted his picture with the caption “One step forward, one step stronger, One step better.”

I want him sitting beside me in the dugout every day of the week: Ricky Ponting

There are reports that the left-hand batter can recover by the time 50-0ver World Cup starts which is scheduled to be played in October and November. He has scored six hundred and 11 fifties in the 50-over format. Pant is among the most successful wicketkeeper-batters for India has ever produced.

During the Cricket’s governing body review show, Ricky Ponting said that it would be vital for the Delhi team to have him around if possible and added that it would be a booster for the other players. Further, the legendary Australian cricketer said that it would be a scary time for anyone after going through such a disgraceful accident.

“I absolutely love the bloke, I told him that on the phone the last couple of days. It was a horrifying time, a really scary time for everybody, let alone him. Anyone that knows him loves him – he’s a really infectious young guy that has the world at his feet still,” Ponting was quoted as saying in Cricket’s governing body review show.

“So we will keep our fingers crossed and hope that he can get back to playing sooner rather than later. You can’t replace those guys, simple as that. They don’t grow on trees, players like that. We’ve got to look at – and we already are – a replacement to come into the squad, a wicketkeeper-batsman,” said the 48-year-old further.

“I want him sitting beside me in the dugout every day of the week. If he’s actually not physically fit enough to play, we’d still love to have him around. He’s the sort of cultural leader around the group, being the captain, and that attitude and infectious smile and laughs he has is what we all love so much about him,” he added.
