WATCH: Glimpse of Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic ‘800’ whose trailer to be unveiled by Sachin Tendulkar

Muttiah Muralitharan, who is considered as one of the greatest bowlers of All-time in cricket, is having a biopic to his name. The legendary bowler’s biopic will be releasing with the title ‘800’. The trailer of the legendary cricketer is set to be unveiled by another cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar, who had a biopic to his name in 2017 with title ‘Sachin: A billion dreams’.  

Written and directed by MS Sripathy, 800 will focus on Muttiah Muralitharan’s illustrious career which lasted for about 20 years. The star spinner’s career had so many ups and downs. Without a doubt, the story of Muralitharan can make a good biopic and can inspire a lot of youngsters to take up cricket. The glimpse of the movie is out on the internet, which has the fans all excited for the movie. 

In the glimpse, the movie has let out some of the key elements of Muttiah Muralitharan’s career like achieving 800 Test wickets, the controversy around his bowling action, the controversy that led to his ban of doosra, the statistical genius of the spin bowler and so on. They all get combined and become the headlines of the newspapers with the face of the protagonist playing the character. 

A spin bowler with an illustrious career in cricket

Madhurr Mittal, who played a role in the Oscar winning movie ‘Slumdog millionaire’, will play the role of Muttiah Muralitharan in the movie. It is basically a Tamil movie which will be released worldwide in Telugu and Hindi as well. Earlier, Vijay Sethupathi was set to play the role of Muralitharan. But Sethupathi stepped back from the project in 2020.  

Muttiah Muralitharan is a legend of Sri Lankan cricket. The spinner claimed 800 wickets in Test cricket and 534 wickets in ODI cricket, both of which are the most for a bowler in the formats. The star spinner won the ODI World Cup with Sri Lanka in 1996 and went on to become a legend in the following years. Many regard the former Sri Lankan cricketer as the greatest bowler in the history of cricket.
