WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah takes on field during India’s first practice session in Dublin ahead of Ireland series
After facing a humiliating defeat against West Indies in the recently concluded T20I series, the Indian Cricket team is set to face Ireland on August 24. In the three-match T20I series, the team will look up to stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah, who is making a comeback after a prolonged injury.
Ahead of the series, India organised a practice session in Dublin on Wednesday. The Indian Cricket Board shared glimpses of practice sessions, which delighted Indian Cricket fans. In the viral video, right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah can be seen having an amazing time with the ball. He can be seen bowling well in the nets and troubling batters.

It’s worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the young Indian squad in the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya. All of them will be reporting to NCA for a camp ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. This series will be crucial for Bumrah to prove his fitness and fine-tune his skills ahead of the upcoming three months of highly competitive cricket.
“He will have some hiccups,” said a former India cricketer on Jasprit Bumrah’s return
Speaking about Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback, former India cricketer Lakshmipathy Balaji believes that he will have some hiccups. Balaji believes that Bumrah will not have a smooth comeback after a prolonged injury. “Any back surgery will have some little hiccups here and there. But that is the maximum you can do. For conservative healing, if it has not healed and you have the surgery option to take it and then come back, it’s the last stage… So, everything is going to be new (for him), and again, getting back, there will be challenges, but that is what makes individuals perform higher,” Balaji stated while speaking with Sportstar.
It’s worth noting that Jasprit Bumrah injured his back last year. After which, he went to New Zealand for back surgery, and since then, he has been rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy under the supervision of NCA chief VVS Laxman. Bumrah will be a key asset for India in the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup. The Asia Cup will kick off on August 31, while the World Cup will start on October 5.
