WATCH: Joe Root practices unorthodox switch hit ahead of the 2nd Test vs India

The India vs England series has started off well for the visitors as they have managed to win the 1st Test and take an early lead in the series vs India with Ollie Pope and Tom Hartley becoming the unsung heroes of the game. This will be a memorable victory for the England team who have managed to win a Test match from the jaws of defeat after being behind in the game in the first innings of the match. There are still four more games however and the series is not even close to being over for both sides.

Even though the performances of Pope and Hartley were impressive, there is still one batter who has to come to the party and he is none other than the former England skipper Joe Root. Root is is no doubt one of the best batters in the world right now and has had great success against India as well. Root has scored over 11000 runs in Test matches and is the 2nd highest run scorer for England just behind Alastair Cook. His performances in the last Test match were probably not his best, but we can still not count him out.

Joe Root switch hit practice

Joe Root might be an elegant player by nature, but that does not mean that he cannot play the attacking game as well. He has also lived up to the Baz Ball standards in recent times as well. He was seen in the nets practising his iconic switch hits just ahead of the 2nd Test which will be happening in India. These shots didn’t seem like the shots played before a Test match and are considered risky, but who knows since the birth of the attacking style by England have already given us some surprises.

Watch the video below-

We do not know if Root will go on to play the attacking style in the upcoming Test, but that does not mean that the Indians should not be aware of this. The England side has already surprised a lot of teams in Test cricket with their unique approach to Test cricket and it won’t be surprising if it is in Visakhapatnam, where once again there might not be enough grip and turn for the spinners early on in the match. We will have to wait and watch to see what the English batters will have planned against this Indian side who will also look to come back into this series in the upcoming game.
