WATCH: KL Rahul takes flying catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz in ODI World Cup 2023
Bangladesh came to Pune to take on the Indian cricket team in the 4th game of the ODI World Cup 2023. KL Rahul has been growing leaps and bounds during the tournament with the bat and with the gloves. The legend of the 31-year-old grew when he took an amazing catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz on Thursday.
India for the fourth game in a row lost the toss and yet again were asked to field first. Najmul Hossain Shanto replaced Shakib Al Hasan as the skipper of the Bangladesh side. Hasan Mahmud was the only change seen from either side for the game.
The Indian team came into the game with a 100% record having won all the 3 games. Bangladesh had lost their last two games after starting their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign with a win. The win over Afghanistan came in Dharamshala in the opening week of the tournament.
KL Rahul’s flying attempt gets India back in the game
Mohammad Siraj was got for his second spell by skipper Rohit Sharma as the Indian team was looking for wickets. At that stage, the score was reading 129/2 with Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz having added 19 runs for the third wicket.
That’s when Mohammad Siraj bowled a short and rising ball to Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The batter got a faint edge as it was flying down the leg side. KL Rahul flung himself and took a brilliant diving catch to get rid of Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 3. The entire Indian team rushed to Rahul to congratulate him for taking an amazing catch.

Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das went after the Indian bowlers as the opening pair added 93 runs for the 1st wicket. The pair scored their runs at over 6 runs per over as Rohit Sharma looked lost for ideas. To make matters worse Hardik Pandya hobbled off the field injured while trying to stop a ball on his follow-through while bowling.
Kuldeep Yadav got India its first wicket when he had Tanzid Hasan out LBW for 51 runs off 43 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Ravindra Jadeja then got the wicket of stand-in skipper Shanto out LBW for 8. Litton Das grew impatient as he holed out giving Jadeja his 2nd wicket for 66 runs. Bangladesh lost 4 wickets for just 44 runs in 13 overs as India made a strong comeback to the game.
