Watch: MS Dhoni smashes huge sixes in practice, gets fans excited for Indian T20 League 2023
Having won the championship four times, the Chennai franchise is regarded as one of the heavyweights in the Indian T20 League. As the next season approaches, Chennai will be hoping to reclaim the top spot after finishing ninth in the previous edition’s points table.
The majority of the players are occupied with their national duties, but Chennai-based franchise captain MS Dhoni has started preparing for the prestigious T20 competition, which may be his final appearance considering his age. Dhoni can be seen blasting enormous sixes in a fan-shared video that has gone popular on social media.

Who can be the Chennai franchise’s next skipper?
Dhoni has played in 234 Indian T20 League games thus far, scoring 4978 runs at an average of 39.5. Dhoni, one of the most dangerous keepers, has frequently assisted his team in winning games and has kept fans delighted with his six-hitting ability. He has slammed 229 sixes in his Indian T20 career to date.
At the start of the last edition’s cash-rich league, Dhoni, who had led the Chennai franchise from the competition’s inception in 2008, handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja. He was, however, forced to leave the competition midway due to a rib ailment, so the choice backfired, and after a string of defeats, Dhoni was given the captaincy once more.
Although nothing to this effect has been disclosed as of yet, Ben Stokes, the England Test captain and star all-rounder, who Chennai based franchise acquired for a staggering 16.25 crore at the mini-auction conducted in December 2022, could be expected to take over as the team’s new captain once MS Dhoni retires.
Along with Stokes, Chennai added Kyle Jamieson and Ajinkya Rahane as two more notable players. It would be fair to say that the deals for Rahane ($50 lakh) and the Kiwi all-rounder ($1 crore)
