WATCH: Suryakumar Yadav falls on field while slamming a six against Sri Lanka in third T20I
India won the T20I series against Sri Lanka 2-1 after defeating the visitors emphatically in the series decider. Word number one batter Suryakumar Yadav was awarded the Man of the Match and Axar Patel was awarded the Man of the Series for their exceptional performances in the series.
Suryakumar has been India’s star performer in the shortest format, to say the least. One of the prime reasons for India’s advancement to the semi-final stage of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 was his 360-degree Strokeplay at number four.
On the second ball of the 12th over against Sri Lanka, the right-hand batter slammed left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka for a six. A full toss in which he pre-mediated his paddle shot, he was falling across on the shot, took his eyes off it, and still managed to scoop it over fine leg, the pace on the ball doing rest.

Suryakumar Yadav nominated for the Men’s T20I Cricketer of 2022 Award
The Apex Council of Cricket has nominated India’s ace batter Suryakumar for the Men’s T20I Cricketer of 2022 award. Sam Curran, Sikandar Raza, and Mohammad Rizwan, three other players, have also been nominated for the same award as him.
In the shortest format of the game, Suryakumar had a fantastic year, becoming just the second batter to score more than 1000 runs in a calendar year. He was the top run scorer for the year, with 1164 runs scored at an outrageous strike rate of 187.43.
With nine half-centuries, the Mumbai franchise player was the top male T20I batter of the year. During the 20-20 World Cup in Australia, he scored three fifties in six innings, averaging nearly 60 and with a strike rate of 189.68.
Also, the batter Suryakumar, along with his teammate Hardik Pandya, is likely to gain promotion to Grade A of 2022-23 Indian Cricket Board central contracts, as per the sources in the Indian Cricket Board.
