Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz has stated that Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are his mentors for polishing his skills in cricket. While being on the sidelines for International League T20 Gurbaz told ANI that he wants guidance from both to take his career to the next level.

In the recently ended T20 series against India Afghan batter has scored a half-century. Rahmanullah Gurbaz has expressed his feelings regarding his career and also that he wants to approach Virat and Dhoni.

While playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) get a chance to hang out with top Indian cricketers.

The Afghan team got to learn many things as well

“I always talked to Virat and MS Dhoni about how to improve my cricket. I have a lot of things in my mind and I have to work on it. I was talking to Virat (bhai) about my cricket journey and how should I grow, and reach the next level,” Gurbaz told ANI in an interview.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Gurbaz said that the T20 series against India was a great experience for the Afghan team and got lot learn many things as well.

“It was a good learning for us. This kind of game can happen. We also enjoyed the game and learned a lot from it. Playing against players like Virat and Rohit Sharma gave us a lot of confidence and learning. I hope we get a lot of series against India in future,” Gurbaz said.

The last T20 game in the series held at M. Chinnaswamy stadium saw a double Super Over played. Afghanistan team gave a tough fight in the 1st Super Over but lost the game in the 2nd Super Over. With the bat, Gurbaz scored 50 runs in the 3rd T20 game. With Afghan skipper Ibrahim Zadran, they both managed to put a partnership of 93 runs for the 1st wicket later Afghanistan chased down the target of 212 runs.
