‘What a dream moment for Suryakumar Yadav’ – Twitter Reacts after India cricketer receives maiden Test Cap

Suryakumar Yadav is making his Test debut for India against Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The world’s No. 1 T20I batter, has received the maiden Test cap from former India coach Ravi Shastri. Along with him, wicketkeeper KS Bharat is also making his debut in Test cricket and was also handed a cap from Shastri. Australia’s Todd Murphy also received his maiden game in Test cricket.

With the inclusion of Yadav, the in-form batter Shubman Gill is not part of the playing XI. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan also did not make it to the squad for the first test. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj formed India’s pace attack in the first Test.

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat against India in the first Test. Cummins said that the visitors feel that they are well placed. He also mentioned about the 2017 Test, stating it as a ‘big series’.

“We are going to bat. Looks like a pretty even wicket towards the middle. 2017 was a big series. Can’t wait to get this started. We have had good preparation. We feel we are really well placed. Two changes Todd Murphy in. Handscomb in for Travis Head,” Cummins said at the toss.

India’s captain said that if they had won the toss, they would have also opted to bat. He believes that it will be helpful for spinners since the climate is pretty dry. He added that the series is a big one and the team is completely aware of the importance of it.

“We would have batted too. Looks pretty dry. There will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does. Yesterday when we started training we did see some seam movement for the pacers up front. We have had a good prep for the last 5-6 days,” Rohit said at the toss.

“We trained on the aspects in store. This is a big one. We know the importance of the series but we also understand it’s about winning one session at a time. It’s a long series. Three spinners, two seamers, Bharat and Suryakumar Yadav are debuting,” he added.
