‘Winning in India Extra Motivation’ – David Warner ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2023
Australia finished their cricketing action in 2022 after sealing the ongoing three-match Test series at home against South Africa. They have already won two matches with one more match to go in Sydney on 3 January 2023. However, they are currently sitting in the top spot of the ongoing World Test Championship.
Meanwhile, after this series, they will go to India to play a four-match Test series. The Men in Blue are sitting in the second spot in the Championship. Hence, an exciting Border-Gavaskar Trophy awaits the fans. Now, regarding that series, Australian opener, David Warner came up with a huge remark.
“The extra motivation for me is winning in India, and completely winning a series in England.” – David Warner
In the recently concluded MCG Test, David Warner won the player of the match award for scoring 200 runs off 255 balls. After that match, he said: “I wish you would stop telling me my age. I don’t feel 36. I’m running faster than a lot of these youngsters in (the dressing room). So when they catch up to me then I might think about pulling the pin.”
“The extra motivation for me is winning in India, and completely winning a series in England. I’ve been told by the coach and the selectors they’d like me to be there. I still know what energy I can bring to the team,” Warner added. He also opened up about his Test career. He said: “Were there doubts? Yeah, of course, there were doubts in my mind. But for me, it was about just going out there and knowing that I’ve still got that hunger and determination because every time I rock up the training I’ve got it.”
Australia will take on India in Nagpur on 9 February 2023 in the first game of the four-match Test series. “We know what we’re going to prepare for, they’re going to be turning wickets. It’s different with the venues, Nagpur and Delhi quite dry, then Dharamsala that time of the year, we’ve played there, and we probably should have won that Test, but we lost that ourselves,” Warner concluded.
