‘Ye baarish kyun aa jati hai’ – Fans react as warm-up match of ODI World Cup 2023 between India and England gets called off due due to rain

Team India and England warm-up game of the ODI World Cup 2023 has been called off as the rain halted the play on September 30 in Guwahati. Notably, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the Jos Buttler side to field first before rain halted the play at Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

The English side has really become a formidable side, thanks to the magnificent form of a few players such as Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, and Liam Livingstone. Notably, facing these in-form batters would have definitely been a daunting task for any bowling attack, and unfortunately, Rohit Sharma and Co. lost the opportunity for bowlers to take up good challenges ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, English skipper Jos Buttler was excited to play the game before rain halted it. The stylish right-handed batter has expressed his excitement for reaching India for the ODI World Cup in 2023. In addition, the wicketkeeper batsman wanted to play the game as it will definitely give their side a great experience in Indian home conditions ahead of their first match against New Zealand on October 5.

To be in India ahead of what’s gonna be a really exciting World Cup: Jos Buttler

However, the Taunton-born cricketer was also relaxed, as most of the English star has experience with Indian home soil conditions due to the IPL league. Meanwhile, the top-order batter reveals that they had a long travel time of around 38 hours, and they just landed a day before the warm-up game between India and England.

“To be in India ahead of what’s gonna be a really exciting World Cup, for us it is very much about getting out there and getting moving. There is a lot of experience in our game, everything including this game is about preparing for that (World Cup opener against New Zealand) match. We have plenty of guys who played a lot of IPL cricket here in India and really excited about today. We had a long travel to get there, we will be a bit cautious today,” Jos Buttler said at the toss.
