‘Me and Mahi are not close friends…’ – Yuvraj Singh opens up on his bond with MS Dhoni

Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh made a shocking revelation about his friendship with former India skipper MS Dhoni in his recent podcast interview. Notably, both legendary cricketers guided India to a terrific win in the 2007 T20I World Cup held in South Africa and helped the host team lift the trophy in the 2011 ODI World Cup.

The former all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, reveals that he and MS Dhoni are not close friends at all. In addition, the great cricketer says that he and the wicketkeeper-batsman became friends because of cricket. The 41-year-old cricketer affirms that the MS Dhoni lifestyle was completely different as compared to him, which never allowed him to be close friends. Yuvraj Singh reveals that they only believe in giving their 100 per cent when appointed as the captain and vice-captain of the team.

“Should I be politically correct or honest? Let me be politically correct because if you ask Mahi, he will be politically correct. Me and Mahi are not close friends; we were friends because of cricket; we played together. My lifestyle was very different from his, so we were never close friends, just because of cricket. When he and Mahi went on the ground, we gave more than 100 per cent for our country, he was captain and I was the vice-captain. When he came into the team, he was four years junior to me,” Yuvraj Singh said on ‘The Ranveer Show’ (TRS) podcast.

Sometimes MS Dhoni made decisions that I did not like: Yuvraj Singh

The legendary cricketer further reveals that sometimes they don’t like each other’s decisions in the game, and that is true for every team when they are appointed as the captain and vice-captain of the Indian team.

“In between the captain and the vice-captain, there would be differences in decisions. Sometimes he made decisions that I did not like, and sometimes I made decisions that he did not like, and that is true for every team. You don’t have to be best friends to perform for the team. When you are in the field, you have to put your ego behind you and play the game,” he added further.
