Stunning legal blow for Shikhar Dhawan’s estranged wife by Delhi Court
After reportedly receiving several threats of defamation, veteran Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife, Ayesha Mukerji, at Delhi’s Patiala House Court. Ayesha allegedly sent Dheeraj Malhotra, the CEO of the Delhi franchise, a few disparaging messages in an effort to damage Dhawan’s reputation.
The House Court has prohibited Aesha from making false accusations against the Indian cricket player after taking note of this. Zoravar, a child from Dhawan and Aesha’s previous union, is currently in the custody of his mother in Australia.
“Reputation of a person is dear to everyone and is considered as the property of the highest degree because materialistic property can be regained after loss but reputation cannot be regained once damaged. Therefore, it has got to be protected. However, it is equally true that if anyone has a lawful grievance against someone, he or she cannot be restrained from venting out his or her grievance to the concerned authority,” said the judge on February 1.
‘She is hereby restrained till further order from circulating any of her grievances against Dhawan’
Accordingly, the judge decided that, if Aesha has any “real” complaints against Dhawan, she cannot avoid bringing them to the appropriate authorities, but she can be restrained from discussing them publicly and with her friends, family, and peers before bringing them up with the proper authorities.
“Therefore, in these circumstances, she is hereby restrained till further order from circulating any of her grievance against Dhawan or her version of the dispute involved herein or the alleged defamatory and false material against him, to social media, to print media, or to any other’ forum or to friends, relatives or colleagues of the parties,” the judge added.
Since the start of the ODI season in 2019, Dhawan has played with the most consistency. He has captained the team multiple times when the normal skipper was absent. He was the captain of a recent tour against New Zealand. On the other hand, Shubman Gill is working really hard to earn a permanent berth in the ODI squad. The teenage player has scored 687 runs at 57.2 with one century and four fifties in 15 ODIs thus far.
