‘Kahe bichare ka career barbad karne pe tuli hai’ – Sapna Gill files a molestation case against Prithvi Shaw

Social media influencer Sapna Gill has filed an FIR against Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and his friends for allegedly insulting her modesty at a police station in Mumbai.  Sapna, who was detained last week along with a few others in relation to an assault on Shaw after a dispute over taking photos at a hotel in a nearby suburb, was granted bail on Monday by a magistrate court.

She demanded an FIR to be filed against Shaw, his buddy Ashish Yadav, and others on Monday through her lawyer Kaashif Ali Khan at the Airport police station in Andheri for suspected molestation and outraging modesty. According to Sapna’s application, she and her friend Shobhit Thakur frequently visits the posh club where the latter saw Shaw, who was apparently intoxicated and partying along with friends.

Her friend, Shobhit is a great Cricket admirer who approached Shaw for a selfie but was rejected by the hostility. “Thakur, who is just a teenager, was unaware of the brutality of the drunken mob. Thakur was helpless and was unable to defend himself. Hence, she (Gill) intervened and entered the fray trying to stop Shaw and others from further harming and injuring Thakur,” according to the FIR.

Sapna was sent to jail on February 16

Furthermore, the FIR stated that Sapna begged and pleaded with Shaw, who was at the time “inebriated.”  According to Sapna’s plea, Shaw insulted her modesty, which is a punishable crime by the Indian Criminal Code’s 354 (molestation) and other prohibitions.

Following an argument over taking selfies that erupted in the luxurious hotel in the early hours of February 15, Shaw was allegedly manhandled and having his car damaged with a baseball bat.  According to authorities, Shobhit was detained on February 18 while Sapna was detained on February 16.

Police said that Sapna and Shobhit asked Shaw for a selfie, which sparked an argument when the cricketer declined after taking a few pictures on his phone. Outside the hotel, Sapna, Shobhit and their six companions allegedly waited for Shaw and his friend, followed after them, and used a baseball bat to smash the windscreen of their car.
