India locked horns against Australia in the second test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Australia scored 263 runs in the first innings. In reply, India fell short by one run. Thanks to the all-rounder Axar Patel, who played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 115 balls, which included nine fours and three sixes, India managed to get to this score.

Star India opener KL Rahul is struggling in the longest format of the game since the Bangladesh series. He scored only 10 and 2 runs in the two Test matches and scored only 20 runs in the first Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but still, he has been backed by the skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid.

Former Indian Cricketer backs Shubman Gill over KL Rahul

On the other hand, a youngster like Shubman Gill who is performing exceedingly well in the last few months across all formats. The 23-year-old has recently scored his maiden century in Tests against the Bangla Tigers. He has scored centuries in both the ODI and T20I format at home series as well. Seeing his recent form, fans believed that he would be replacing the 30-year-old, but that didn’t happen as the Indian management continued to back the vice-captain of the team.

Some former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Kapil Dev agreed that Gill deserved a spot in the team. To accomplish this, the team should drop Rahul if needed. Yet, the team management backed Rahul and used him in the first two Border-Gavasker Tests. Talking about the video, Gill could be seen having fun with former Bangalore franchise skipper Virat Kohli and the Indian team. Kohli approached him there and pulled a great prank on him.

If we talk about the former India skipper, he has been struggling in Tests for quite a time now. In the ongoing Test series against the Aussies, Kohli has scored just 12 and 64 runs, respectively in the first two matches. However, on the other side, Gill will be hoping that he can get a chance in the third Test match as Rahul hasn’t been able to perform in the first two Tests.
