The schedule for the 2023 Indian T20 League has been released, with the Chennai franchise taking against the Gujarat franchise on March 31. With MS Dhoni playing for the Chennai franchise in Chennai for the first time in three years, the Indian T20 League will this time be contested in a home-and-away format.

In Chennai, there is a significant fan base for the former captain of India. With the release of the Indian T20 League 2023 schedule, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden said on Star Sports about the welcome MS Dhoni will receive when he returns to the pitch in Chepauk after nearly three years.

“It will be an amazing moment. I think last year, we were all under the impression that will MSD come back again. At the close of the Indian T20 League season, he made that huge comment to say that he will be back. Now, what that means for all that Yellow Army is that Chennai suddenly galvanized a tad around the superior leader, who has done it for so long,” Hayden was quoted as saying on Star Sports.
