‘Itna bhi nahi seekhna tha bhai Marnus’ – Fans react at Labuschange’s ‘I wanna learn how to bat on these conditions’ comments to Rohit Sharma

Marnus Labuschagne, the No. 1 Test batter in the world, provided insight into what changed for Australia following their losses in the first two Tests. On Friday, they defeated India by 9 wickets in the third Test in Indore. After suffering significant losses in Nagpur and Delhi, Australia appeared to be in horrible condition. But, the visitors recovered and completely dominated India in the Indore Test to win the third of the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

Usman Khawaja was quickly dismissed by R Ashwin for zero runs after India set a target of just 76 runs in the second innings. However, Australia chased down the target in the 19th over with nine wickets in hand. Travis Head played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs from 53 balls, with six fours and a six, and Marnus Labuschange played an unbeaten knock of 28 runs off 58 balls, which included six boundaries.

We need to keep learning: Marnus Labuschange

Addressing the media following the quick 2-and-a-half-day Indore Test, Labuschagne shared a fascinating conversation he had with India skipper Rohit Sharma in which he emphasised the importance of learning from mistakes and the opponents’ batters during difficult international tours.

“We got to continue to learn and make sure the first Test, the second Test is all not the same. We need to keep learning. As I said to Rohit out there when we were walking. I said ‘I am watching whatever you do, I want to learn. You guys are the best in these conditions. We are foreign to these conditions’. You learn from the opposition, you learn from the way they do it. We try and learn and grow with each game,” Labuschange was quoted as saying on Star Sports.

On the spin-friendly wickets of Nagpur and Delhi, Australia’s batters were accused of throwing it away and playing in a panicked manner. After scoring 263 in the first innings in the Delhi Test, Australia had the chance to advance and set a challenging total for India. However, the visitors were bowled out for just 113 in the second innings after sweeping too much. With 85 for 2, Australia was in a strong position, but they crashed and lost their final 8 wickets for just 28 runs as Ravindra Jadeja claimed 7 wickets in Delhi’s second innings.
