‘Kitne din luck se jeetoge’ – Fans troll Kolkata Knight Riders for losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 23 runs in IPL 2023

After winning the last match on the last ball against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are locking horns against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. KKR skipper Nitish Rana won the toss and elected to ball first.

While batting first, the visitors scored a mammoth total of 228 runs with the loss of only four wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was England‘s star batter, Harry Brook who played an unbeaten knock of 100 runs from just 55 balls which included 12 fours and three sixes in his innings.

SRH skipper, Aiden Markram supported Brook and scored 50 runs off just 26 balls which included two fours and five sixes in his innings. Youngster Abhishek Sharma also scored important 32 runs from 17 balls with three fours and two sixes in his innings. In the end, South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batter Heinrick Klaasen played a quickfire knock of 16 runs from six balls which included two fours and a six.

Harry Brook awarded Player of the Match

For the KKR side, the pick of the bowler was star West Indian all-rounder, Andre Russell who snapped three wickets in his spell of 2.1 overs where he conceded 22 runs in his spell. One wicket was grabbed by India’s mystery spinner, Varun Chakaravarthy in his spell of four overs where he conceded 41 runs in his spell of four overs.

While chasing a mammoth total of 229 runs, Knight Riders didn’t have a good start to the innings as they lost the first three wickets at a mere total of 20 runs inside the powerplay overs. After the fall of the first three wickets, Rana and Narayan Jagdeeshan built up a partnership. The batter from Tamil Nadu scored 36 runs off 21 balls with 5 fours and a six, whereas, on the other hand, the Delhi-born cricketer scored 75 runs off 41 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes.

In the end, the all-rounder from Uttar Pradesh, Rinku Singh scored 51 runs from 30 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes but that was not enough as the Knight Riders lost the game by 23 runs. Brook was awarded the Player of the Match for his marvelous century
