‘Nothing more satisfying than hearing big crowd go silent’ – Pat Cummins makes bold statement ahead of ODI World Cup 2023 final vs unbeaten India

The stage is all set for the final clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 between five-time world champions Australia and hosts India, which will take place on November 19 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. However, ahead of the game, Australia skipper Pat Cummins has opened up about his emotions for playing the game against the one-sided crowd in Ahmedabad.

The right-arm pacer aims to silence the whole crowd after winning the ODI World Cup 2023 title at the world’s largest cricket stadium. In addition, the 30-year-old cricketer reiterated that their side doesn’t want to go home with any regrets and is ready to take up the challenges to face hosts India. The South Wales-born skipper wants to embrace every part of the marquee event.

“The crowd’s obviously going to be very one-sided but it’s also in sport there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that’s the aim for us tomorrow. Yeah, you’ve just got to embrace every part of it. You got to be up for it, you got to love it and just know whatever happens it’s fine but you just want to finish the day with no regrets,” Pat Cummins said in a pre-match conference.

There’s lots of moments we can draw on where we’ve had success against India: Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins feels the hosts are really good and played tremendously well in the tournament. Moreover, the great seamer admitted they failed to win their opening game, but they are confident for the final as they have already won the ODI series in Indian home soil conditions.

“They’ve certainly played really well this World Cup. I think we certainly didn’t – I don’t think we scored par in that first game but we’re one catch away from potentially being in front of that game. We won an ODI series here early on in the year. There’s lots of moments we can draw on where we’ve had success against, you know, a really good Indian side,” he added further.
